Behind our mission and everything we do here at FFAA is an outstanding Board of Directors and staff who aim to serve.

THE FLORIDA FERTILIZER & AGRICHEMICAL ASSOCIATION mission is this: To promote the responsible use of plant protection and nutrient products in Florida. That mission is fulfilled on a continuing basis with an exemplary Board of Directors at the association’s helm. That’s what we have here at the Bartow-based FFAA17 outstanding directors who, together, set the policies for our 86-year-old organization.

FFAA’s long-standing success stems from the unselfish commitment of its directors and members to dedicate their time, talents, and resources to furthering the best interests of the Florida fertilizer and ag pesticide industries, Florida agriculture as a whole, and Sunshine State communities.

Leading the FFAA board for 2017-2018 are three officers: Chairman Mike Roberts, Griffin Fertilizer; Vice Chairman John Baxter, Helena Chemical Company; and Secretary/Treasurer Charles Lanfier, BRANDT.

FFAA directors each serve a three-year term.

2015-2018 directors are Jack Conroy, Seamless Control, LLC; Jim Faircloth, Syngenta; Charles Lanfier, BRANDT; Mike Roberts, Griffin Fertilizer; Keith Shaw, Mayo Fertilizer; and Brent Sutton, Growers Fertilizer Corporation.

2016-2019 directors are John Baxter, Helena Chemical Company; Justin Bunch, Crop Production Services; Roy Morris, Bayer CropScience; Brian Patterson, Florikan E.S.A.; Gaylon Pfeiffer, BASF; and Lat Varn, American Fertilizer Exchange.

2017-2020 directors are Mike Barry, TradeMark Nitrogen Corp.; David Carson, Chemical Dynamics, Inc.; Keith Davis, Florida Fertilizer Company; Joe Hodges, Wedgworth’s, Inc.; and Mike Hudson, Diamond R Fertilizer Co., Inc.

The president of FFAA is Mary Hartney. She represents the interests of FFAA members in Tallahassee by working with legislators, state regulatory agencies, grower groups, and allies on science-based agriculture and environmental policies. FFAA also administers the Florida Certified Crop Advisers program to promote professionalism in Florida fields.

Hartney joined FFAA in 1998. Her expertise in public affairs and communications was honed in former leadership positions with the Polk County Farm Bureau, Florida Citrus Mutual, and The (Lakeland) Ledger newspaper. She’s a University of Notre Dame graduate, and she holds a master’s degree from the University of South Florida.

Her work involves planning and executing FFAA’s Annual Meeting, the Winter Business Meeting, the Scholarship Golf Tournament and Scholarship Sporting Clays Tournament, board and committee meetings, and other special events. She manages the FFAA membership database and all financials for the FFAA and the FFAA Scholarship Fund.
